[HELP] System Restore broke my computer!

Specs:
P4 3.0ghz not overclocked
1gb (2x512) corsair ram
120gb wd hdd
x1300 radeon 256mb

I recently system restored my computer but now it is messed up. First, it didn't remove the files that i added past the restore point.

Second when I boot up it just comes to windows and only sound loads nothing else and my system is really slow

This sounds like it is booting in safe mode but i did msconfig and everything is checked to load

My resolution is messed up and when i go to change it nothing happens.:swearing:

I was thinking of getting a Mybook external hdd to backup what I need and do a fresh install of xp (haven't done that in a long time anyway). Please let me know what you think. THanks!

This is why... I don't use system restore.

Yeah, if you havn't done it in a long time, and are willing to do it. Then just go ahead and format and re-install.

dont know how to help there but external hdd's are great for saving media like pics and videos, you should always have like a 500 or 300 gig and put all of your media there and docs, you dont know when u need one unless something like this happens

this one should give u plenty of space
