which is the smartest upgrade?

Thread Starter
Ok, i have sold some of my misc PC parts and ended up with almost 800.00. I want to know what my smartest upgrade would be.

1. Keep my 780i, get more RAM and 2x GTX260

2. Sell my 780i, get Intel motherboard, more RAM and get 1 or 2 4870's (they are 299, right?)

3. keep 780i and get 1 4870 or 4870x2 and more RAM (and some other upgrade, maybe Raptors or sound card?)

4. Sell MB, get 790i, Sell RAM, get DDR3, and 2 x GTX 260's?

The sales include 1 of my 8800's in sig, so please do not say keep your 8800's. I have an offer on the second one as well, so i will not be keeping them.

I want to know what the smartest upgrade (to increase overall performance, not just graphics) would be. what do you think? Also, on #2, what intel board can OC my q6600 well? on my 780i, i can easily hit 3.6.

Thanks.

I would say go for option 3 unless you want DDR3. Keep your Mobo, go for a 4870, 4850, 9800GTX+,GTX260 (which ever suits you the best) and another 2Gigs of ram.

For Intel, really any P35/P45 will do what you need.

Sell 780i, buy x38 or x48 mobo, get 2x 4870's. If you have leftover money, get more RAM.
Blackbox.
