asrock & vista

Thread Starter
hi.....

i was just wondering if anyone's had any trouble running vista or 4gb of ram on this motherboard ...?? '
'Asrock Alive xFire eSATA2''

or know of any issues with it...
cos my friend can run 2gb fine but 4gb wont run in vista but it works in XP64

we tried SP1 ...no go
we tried downloading the 4gb fix manually ....no go

the ram is fine...

so now i think its the board either not liking 4x 1gb dimms or vista itself....

any thoughts would be helpful

Hi,
Apparantly the board does support up to 8gb.

Quote:
- Supports DDRII800/667/533 non-ECC, un-buffered memory
- Max. capacity of system memory: 8GB*
SOURCE

Is the RAM verified working? Also a BIOS update wouldn't go amiss.
Other than that I'm not too sure - Is the other two sticks compatible with the board?

Does all 4gb show up at POST/BIOS

Failing that - Its an ASRock - they have bugs from my experience.

Does it work with 3gb?
I'm afraid ASRock make pretty cheap (and very nasty) boards IMO. I had like 4 things fail in 5months and getting an RMA is impossible in the UK.
