what are some good motherboards for my rig?

Thread Starter
Here is what I have so far:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500
GPU: eVGA GeForce 8800 GT (maybe SLI in the future)
RAM: Corsair 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 SDRAM
CHASSIS: Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower
HD: Barracuda 7200.10 SATA 3.0Gb/s 320-GB
PSU: ??

I'm currently working on choosing my PSU right now (does that matter for a motherboard)?

I asked around, and I was told that either a Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS4 or a
Asus P5K3 Deluxe would be good. Do you guys have experience with either of these two motherboards, or could recommend me a better one? Overclocking is important to me.

Thanks a lot for your help.

If you want SLI, wait until the 780i FTW comes out, and yes PSU is a factor, especially when it comes to overclocking.

It seems that corsair is the best to get right now, you will probably want right around 700 watt.

oh lord no, no XFX...i went through two of their 680i boards before switching to Intel/Asus...go eVGA if anything.

I've seen the P45 boards get crazy high FSB with the E8500s

P45s can't SLI though, and when they Crossfire, its only in x8 x8 mode...

funny you should ask, it's still not here

i'll be sure to post some benchmarks, a mini-review, whatever else when i get it...

While I'm at it, (and i don't mean to jack the thread), but what's the difference between vdrop and vdroop?
