Its a workstation card (video editing, CAD, rendering ect), sup par at games. Its expensive because of its 384 bit bus size and 1.5 gb of memory. One of the best workstation cards.

Off topic, i wonder if they can fold...

It's expensive because it's finely tuned for accuracy in rendering, and not for maximum FPSs. It's for huge 3D renderings in CAD or maya or whatever.

I'm sure it would fold(given proper driver support, it is a G80 core after all), but probably only as good as a relatively cheap 8800 GTX

yep. Even though the hardware is similar, the production process is more complex and takes a good while longer, which drives up the price. Plus, it's a smaller, more specialized market, and when that happens, prices go bonkers.

It'll probably fold, but not much faster (if any) than a comparible gaming card. The GPU2 client is geared toward gaming cards, and since the workstation card is inferior in games... I think it'll actually be slower.
