Is putting your pump on top of the hdd cage a bad idea?

Thread Starter
I want to put in my watercooling setup soon, but I don't have any room on the bottom of my case for the pump... I was thinking I could put it on top of my hard drive cage since there is enough room for it to be up there. Is this a bad idea?

Nope, many many people have done it. You're fine.

I don't see why it would be bad. Unless if it is I guess upside down. I don't know what is wrong with it being upside down, but in my MCP350/DDC manual it was warned.

You better be careful starting it up like that, you could dry start it real easily like that...I always have my pump gravity fed into the inlet to prevent dry starts...

Your coolant has to go up to get to the inlet like that...A pump pushes real well, it doesn't suck very well...
