ok, I went into the BIOS and disabled the auto power-down feature at 70 degrees.
I haven't had a power-down since.
And I know that this isn't the best approach, and could be dangerous, but I keep a close eye on temps. I actually think my sensor is faulty.
First of all, my proc is cooled very well (GeminII w/2 120mm fans), and I used to have it OC'd until I moved here, so I know it can run much hotter. Kuwait might be behind in a lot of things, but air-conditioning is not one of them
so ambients are not my problem.
I think it is the sensor because when I sit and watch the temps, they are radically jumping all over the place... from 37 to 72, back to 45, then to 65, etc. All within a second or two.
I think I am going to brave my un-OC'd machine without a failsafe. Worst thing that can happen is I destroy my mobo/proc, and it's almost due for an upgrade anyways
I appreciate all the help!
