I took everything back to stock settings, so no OC.

I also noticed that cool & quiet was enabled... I disabled that as well, going to try testing it again.
What is you BIOS temp? It should reflect about 80% of the full load.
Sounds like you do have a CPU max temp issue though.

What about cooling?
Some PCs will shut down once a certain temperature threshold has been
reached.
For some reason,,,Kuwait made me think "Heat issue".

I highly suggest installing some more fans,if possible,or replace existing fan if there is one.

I am going to re-seat my GeminII this weekend... give that a try.

I have 2 120mm fans directly on it, you wouldn't think that would be a problem?
I'm not sure,,might be one part of a problem you may have.

I have my fans set up so they exhaust from the case. Two exhaust from
the rear, one on exhaust from the service panel side, and One more behind
the front panel pulling air IN and across the harddrive.

hmmmm reviewing thread,,,,,

Just a guess,,,faulty temperature sensors on mobo causing havoc?

2nd guess,,,Maybe the heatsink/fan for the CPU is not seated right. It happens.

thats about all i can think of at the moment.

ok, I went into the BIOS and disabled the auto power-down feature at 70 degrees.

I haven't had a power-down since.

And I know that this isn't the best approach, and could be dangerous, but I keep a close eye on temps. I actually think my sensor is faulty.

First of all, my proc is cooled very well (GeminII w/2 120mm fans), and I used to have it OC'd until I moved here, so I know it can run much hotter. Kuwait might be behind in a lot of things, but air-conditioning is not one of them so ambients are not my problem.

I think it is the sensor because when I sit and watch the temps, they are radically jumping all over the place... from 37 to 72, back to 45, then to 65, etc. All within a second or two.

I think I am going to brave my un-OC'd machine without a failsafe. Worst thing that can happen is I destroy my mobo/proc, and it's almost due for an upgrade anyways

I appreciate all the help!

Stupid, your far from damaging your processor, matter of fact it's almost impossible. You can run a sustained 70C with 1.6volts and be ok. I know this from first hand experience
Are those temperatures jumping around during idle or load? Do you still have the stock cooler? I would test with that to see how the temps handle. What is the condition of the base on the gemini?

Good luck
