overclocking e6420 help

Thread Starter
hi!
im trying to overclock my pc e6420 / 965p-s3 / DDR2 /pc2 5300(300mhz).
and i oc from 2.1ghz (266*8) to 2.8ghz (350*8)
this is what ive done:
multipier: *8
fsb: 350mhz
fsb:dram : 1:1
timings: 4-4-4-12
i increased the vcore 1.35[IMG][/IMG] to 1.38 but due of the v droop,it's 1.36v with cpu-z
i also increased ddr memory +0.1
and the others to normal.

i want actually to oc to 3ghz but i dont have a great air cooler so my temp core is max to 58c with cpu stress.

is there any way to oc more? i think if i increase the vcore it is going to heat more as the wheater here is about 35c+ ^^.

thanks in advance.

Do you need 1.38v to stabilize at 2.8GHz? Have you tried your stability with 1.38v while at 3GHz?

Also, wrong section to post this in. This is the F@H section.

EDIT: It is possible to overclock while undervolting, but it may vary. Trail and error is the key.

I can hit 3.0 ghz with 1.3vcore but any higher and it takes 1.4+. For my 24/7 3.2ghz I use 1.4250, pencil mod (FTW!) and I'm 1.41 in windows. Definitely need an aftermarket cooling solution.

it sounds like heat is your issue not vcore.

better cpu cooling, then 1.45vcore should see you running 3.2ghz
