Typical Temps for a e8400 OC

Thread Starter
I finally got everything together to put my sig rig together. I am working on OCing the cpu right now and i am not sure what temperatures are typical since this is the first time I have attempted an OC.

Antec 900 Case, stock fans turned to high. Evga 780i mobo, e8400 OC @ 4.0ghz with 1.24v (listed in CPUZ), arctic freezer 7 pro, AS5 grease. At idle i am at 33/34 in my cores, putting it through Prime95 cores are at 48/51 using real temp. Ambient temp in my office is approx 25C. I am pretty happy with the reported temperatures and but are those typical?
Those are really good temps. My 8400 @ 445x9 and 1.264v runs about 60C on cores while priming, if you wanna compare to some other peoples' 8400 OCs check this thread.

Edit:
Oh and check this thread out too.

That doesn't seem far off at all...

I run my e8400 @ 3.6 stock volts and Everest gives me 40-44(fluctuates) on my cores at full load...Ambient is about same as you give or take a few degrees...

All that said seems right to me...

Thanks for the info. First build in over 5 years, and first time OCing. So the reassurance keeps my mind more at ease.

Seems about right for that voltage (which is quite impressive for that speed with that chip).

with an hd-1283 and at 4.05ghz @ 1.36v priming, mine hits 49 and 51 with the ambient at 27. i just lapped them so we'll see if i get much of an improvement because both were pretty flat.

Cool. Spent part of the day at the office tweaking a little bit. I got the processor to 4.0ghz on 1.24v Prime95'd it for 4hrs no errors. Pretty happy with where I am at with this build.

What were you using to measure your temps? Most are off because of the 45nm Tjmax, only realtemp is accurate with 45nm chips (unless you change it). Regardless, nice voltage for that oc!

I am using Real Temp to get the temperature readings on the cpu.

I found out that i was only running tests to 1core using Prime95 because i didn't set it up correctly. So instead i DL'd orthos so it would test both cores at the same time. It ended up faulting out with what i had the voltage set too. I ended up raising it to 1.3v, and orthos is going on 6hrs without fault. Temperatures still remain the same for me.
