Ah its okay..everything runs GREAT with all four sticks working as long as i dont overclock but i would like to get my moneys worth out of the cpu and stuff by ocing it (only get around 10k on 3dmark06 when my friend that also got his comp from the same company same stuff EXCEPT better ram which was 4gb 2x2 same brand as mine but with heatsinks can oc and gets around 13k sorry) and no i cant try using his ram as we just know each other over the internet

edit: was looking around the bios and found memory timing settings and they are all set to auto didnt someone say something about that a while ago?

Try manually setting them to 5-5-5-15 or 5-5-5-18 and 2T.

That is correct. It is usually better to manually enter in the timings, especially when you want to OC.

That is how I have mine set.

EDIT: not sure if that will help, but it's worth a shot.

If it seems stable, try to change it back to 800 for the memory and see if it works that way. Hope it works out for you.

EDIT: if you still have problems, may want to check to see what BIOS version you have and see if it may need to be updated. Some of the BIOS updates help with RAM compatibility also.

May just need to leave it at 667 then. But if it works fine on 667 then, that may be ok beings some people do downclock their ram when they OC.

Okay let me try it.......So far it had HUGE choppy black lines on the vista welcome screen with the fsb at 1399 and memory at 667 but on the desktop everything is fine and stable along with a 3.15ghz oc so if the black lines dont mean anything then its fine at 3..15ghz (with all four sticks) but i dont know if its okay or not............another thing i just notices i went to my comp>system and it said "Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 DUO CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz 3.15GHz" should it be like that? (just asking as im new to ocing and all)

running orthos for 13 minutes with no errors or warnings!

3.23GHz now with no glitches i think we fixed it one question though when you oc does it oc all the cores? or just one of them? and i will give you guys al rep once if i can and when i can!

aaaand i spoke to soon wont turn back on after the 3.2ghz oc unless i remove one of the ram sticks

Any artifacting like that is indicative of a problem.

Alright, try these timings, in order, as listed in the screen you took.

5
5
5
16
2 clock

4
23
Auto
Auto
between 2600T and 3120T
Auto
60
Auto

Keep the 2.08 ish volts on the memory, but give the vNB or vMCH a small boost.

Yeah, that is true.

I agree. He should probably try getting DDR-800 working on the memory before trying to OC again.
