Help me pick a motherboard

Thread Starter
I have been looking at motherboards to buy. I just had the 790i mobo and it was really unstable, I returned that one and I am not looking for a new mobo.

Here are a few I have picked. Can you guys please help pick one? You can also mention other motherboards I don't have listed if you like. I have the following motherboards listed in order from first choice to third choice.

1. ASUS P5N72-T Premium LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131294

2. ASUS RAMPAGE FORMULA LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131284

3. EVGA 132-CK-NF78-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...pk=EVGA%2b780i

So please tell me what do you think of these motherboards or give suggestions of other motherboards. This computer will be a gaming computer and video editing computer.

Here is what I will be using on this computer:

-Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit
-OCZ Reaper OR ReaperX DDR2 memory
-Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 Yorkfield 2.66GHz LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor
-EVGA 9800 GTX Graphics Card

Thanks for any help.

Out of the ones you listed definately the EVGA 780i if you want to go dual-GPU in the future.

I also suggest looking into a Crossfire setup of HD4850s and an x38/x48 motherboard to go with it. It beats a 9800GTX, but whatever works for you.

As Brythe stated you could go with the 780...personally I think that your having one 9800GTX should not influence you to get an Nvidia only board...

If you got an Asus Maximus Extreme board(you'd need DDR3)you could use the 9800GTX for the moment until the new 4850/4870/4870x2 come and put either of those in a quad fire and you would have the best gaming rig around.

Still, for now you could get a really good deal on a brand new Asus Maximus Extreme that I have ....I have two at the moment one I am using and a new one.

I have the Rampage and it's solid as can be. Upside= OC the CPU/MEM/FBS like crazy and it's stable. Downside=No SLI, only crossfire or Single Nvidia.
