Earphones comparable to Shure E3 - Page 2

While I am a huge Shure fan, and use a plenty of sm58's and sm57's for live sound, I have had the pleasure of using multiple Shure in ear monitor's wired and wireless, but one night I forgot the shure buds, and remembered that I had a pair of in ear sony headphones that came with my Sony Ericcson phone, I pluged them into the board "Allen & Heath gl3300" and I was very pleased with the sound. They were great, and I now use them all the time. They have great sensitivity, and seem to play full bandwidth 20-20k. I bet you could find some of these suckers for cheap on e-bay.

Scale the bass slam of the SE530's to the SE420's for me, will you?
10 being the SE530's.

Do the SE420s still have as much bass response as the E3s? I first heard their line of headphones in a brookstone in the Airport. I tried E2,E3, and E4. Without making the decision based on price, I like the E3s becuase they seemed to offer the best base. Have they changed much with the new series?

I'd say the SE530's would have slightly more slam but the 420's would be right behind.

I also believe the 420's might have a bit more natural sounding bass over the SE530's which, even though they have huge impact, can sound just the slightest bit 'boomy' if you overdo the EQ settings.

I'd expect the SE420's to have better bass than the E3's, personally.

Good. I'm going to be giving my SE530's to my cousin who's a marine, so I want to pick up something along those lines, but I dont want to spend as much money :[

@ OP (and anyone else interested):

There's a set of used Shure SE420's at Head-fi going for $200.00.

http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f10/fs...9/#post4355647

If I were in the market for IEM's, I'd jump on that immediately.

Just an FYI.
