[Goal Reached] 4.0GHz on Air?

Thread Starter
I hit 4.0GHz last night. I ran Orthos (two of 'em, it's an HT processor).

I got to 4001.6MHz at a 1.5vCore. Max Temp 72c. Stock Air.

I was using Small FFTs in the test.

Intel Pentium 4 (520) Prescott
90 nm
Stepping: 4
Revision: D0
Original Speed 2.8GHz

CPU Z Verified

I win.

(P.S. I will NOT be going further on Stock Air. My temps reached as high as 72c.)

The Pentium 4 Series is great go on push that chip hard. I had a P4 661 at nearly 5 GHz on air I could run it a 4.6 24/7

Lol, You got it. I'm going to bed while OCCT runs. I check back later.

to achieve higher clocks disable Hyper Threading.

But when you come to duel core enable it again or you might only pick up one core

Well, I hit 3.8 Stable...

That was on stock air, but that reached 67c. I'll have to move some fans in there to try 4.0.

My dad has a P4 3.4ghz HT (550 maybe?) with 1mb of cache and an 800mhz FSB.

I'll have to try for those 600mhz

edit: could you show me your task manager performance tab or your speedfan readings tab? Every piece of software thinks that my dad's p4 550 has two cores... I'm not sure whats up with that.

That is because of Hyperthreading. The CPU acts like it has two cores with two threads in one core. It really helps in the old cpu's when they're multitasking.

Nice job on the overclock! There is one of those CPU's in the computer I am working with. I really haven't tested any of the stuff. I should do some benchmarks before I get into everything.
