Edit: I have owned 2 7600GTs . One was eVGA 7600GT the other was eVGA 7600GT OC.

eVGA 7600GT - 560/700 when overcloed i got 590/730
eVGA 7600GT OC - 580/750 when oc i get 650/820
Ahh good point. I forgot that they could increase the vcore. Cooling is of course a nice bonus, but if you're planning to OC it, why not get your own cooling solution

I saw some 4850's in Pcvillage already for around 184 dollars. We don't get things cheap here.

Don't really think so.. you can add an aftermarket cooler yourself later and if nothing radically changes (wich I doubt anyways) you could just flash the BIOS or overclock yourself

You could also consider that the OC edition cards are binned at higher speeds at the factory, and so they can get away with overclocking just because they are binned as such. However, I won't take away the fact that yes, they could modify the pre-set vcore settings and such to hit the higher overclocks, which means that yes, you would be able to overclock higher on an OC edition card.

Now here's the problem I have with ATI- They are merely responding to Nvidia, not really doing much to push something past their current line of cards. Why just respond when you can come out with something to go past the current series?

I thought the same thing with nvidia and the 8800GTS and 9800GTX and the GTX+. Ganted, the + actually has a die shrink, so there is a physical difference. It is lame either way with both companies. (although, I guess it is the same as CPU makers limiting cache or multiplier or rated FSB. I this were the 4870, it wod be worse. they can only make the midrange card so good and so cheap in order to protect sales of the higher end )

when the new oced bioses come out for these cards, just flash em onto your already bought card.

Ton of people flash evga oced bioses to their galaxy 8800GTs before.

Anybody who buys from TigerDirect in Canada over the Net is an idiot. $30 for shipping? Kiss my overclocked hiney!

www.ncix.com
www.directcanada.com (my favorite - cheaper than NCIX)
www.pcvillage.com
www.filtechcomputers.com
www.canadacomputers.com

Take your pick.

The only way that TigerDirect pays off is when they're having their crazy sales and you can go into the store in person.
