Creative Speakers

Thread Starter
I have a Creative GigaWorks G550w speaker system that keeps shutting down. After reading through the Creative forums it seems there is not any real fix for whatever is causing the problem. If you rma the speakers it cost about $50 to mail, you then get back a replacement that developes the same problem after a short time.

My question is would it be possible to remove the electronic board and power supply and replace it with something better? I do feel the speakers are worth keeping.

Thanks,
My System

I know these speakers,
I ve repaired those for my friend,
The problem is the speaker's IC gets too hot and internal thermal cutoff shuts it down,
Jus remove stock heatsink and put a chipset cooler on to it or an heatsink bigger than the one provided, dont forget to use some thermal paste between the heatsink and ic,
pack it all up,and there its done..
BTW:I charged my friend 20$ for repairing it...

Yes that makes since, the problem seems to be worse when the AC is set high. I'll break it open and try your suggestion. Thanks!
