Thank you. I wrote down the link.

Yep, a bit too hot for a 9700--but what are your ambient temperatures?

Also, while there is technically a "curing time" for AS5 before it reaches it's maximum thermal conductivity, it's greatly over-exaggerated. Some people swear that temps lower by 5+ C over the curing time, while others don't notice much if anything. Plus, it's hard to gauge whether it's really that big of a deal 'cause ambient temps can vary over the curing time, possibly skewing the perception of how well the TIM is working...

Give realtemp a shot and let us know what it reports!

Will do. I will set it up as soon as I get off here (leaving now) and ill send the temps. I think the ambient temps were pretty low (lower 30's maybe?). Ill check it out and give you all the specs.

30C is 86F. An average ambient temp (75F) would be about 24C.

Ok, I ran the real temp 2.60 and my core temp is idling between 36 and 37C. Do you guys recommend a reseat? (This is the second night with the cooler installed)

Anyone?

If that temp is true, of course yes. Also, I usually use the lazor blade to manually spread out on the surface.

Jeez, a 45nm running stock at 38C? My E6400 idles at 34C (and I'm using the same Zalman 9700), are you sure you seated the sink correctly?

Apparently I didnt. The last one I isntalled on my buddies pc was idling 26c. Im going to take the whole heatsink off and re-do the AS5 and see if that fixes it. SOMETHING isnt right with that the heatsink and the way its setting.

It could be that you put on too much AS5, that is actually detrimental to heat dissipation into the sink. Make sure it's just a thin layer, and move around the sink a bit get a good cover.
