680i issue, please help

Thread Starter
I recently installed the new nForce drivers (15.17) for Vista x64. After installing my OS was acting really weird(slow, unresponsive and the screen would flicker during gaming) and I started getting random crashes. I went back to the previous nForce drivers but it was still acting up. I decided to do a clean install. I could only get to the first screen where I select the language and then BSOD! I reset my bios and even went back to a previous bios version, still got the evil BSOD.

So, I finally decided to install Vista on a brand new HDD, same problem, I can't get past the language selection screen without my rig crashing. After all this trial and error I believe that somehow my motherboard is really messed up, am I correct and how do I fix the problem?
Please help me!

Drivers shouldnt kill your board unless you had ntune installed and it pushed some voltages really high.

^ Shouldn't but could? I honestly don't know what else it could be since all this trouble started after I installed them. I'm going to pull the CMOS battery out when I get home and maybe that will clear everything.

Well I pulled the CMOS battery out for awhile and then put it back in, still getting BSOD.
I really don't know what to do now.
If anybody has any idea as to what is going on please enlighten me.

Do you have an old PCI vid card available to swap in and remove the 8800 to test?

No, I do have 2 8800s and tried each one separately. I am in the process of installing Windows XP and everything seems to be going well so far. Maybe it's just a Vista thing? I'll keep you updated. Thanks for your response.

Sometimes when an AGP or PCIe card won't display, a cheepo PCI card may.

OK...XP loaded fine and is running great. What is going on? Guess I'll have to use XP from now on. Wish I had a definite answer as to what happened.

I was wrong everything is not ok.

I installed windows like I mentioned before and called it a day. I finally had some spare time and got back to installing drivers and such last night. I installed video card drivers(174.74) restarted and now get a message saying something about SLI not functioning due to my PCI Express lanes running below 4X speeds or something along those lines. I removed those drivers and installed the 175.16 drivers for XP but I get a message saying that they were used on a previous version of windows(which was Vista) and they cannot be used on my current version.

So, either my PCI Express lanes are fried and/or my GPUs correct?
I'm about to start the RMA process for my mobo and both of my video cards just to be safe unless I am overlooking something?
