Their not even the real Atari their some dumb crappy french game developer called Infogrames who stole the Atari name in hopes of making sales of nostolgic gamers.
And like all things french, they have no talent and they suck
Every time I see any thing Atari I think of this. I am always careful to remember it. They just bought the Atari name and rather cheap I might add. Every now and then I'll catch some saying they'd wish that Atari would make a console again...they have around 40 empolyees now and only publish video games and poor games at that. The only glint of hope Atari has had in recent days (in the PC market any way)was The Witcher and they didn't have much to do with it...CDProjeck did most of the work and the profits.
Honestly, I am thinking they are trying to shut down reviewers that historically give truthful reviews on their games. Since priracy is such a hot topic these days they figured that the law people would side with them, but like most priracy cases they have no way to prove it and I am betting that there was no priracy involved either. Game reviewers are dependant on new games coming out for the advertising on their sites to make money(if they aren't paid under the table for the game devs). I doubt they would hurt it by being involved in priracy. Heh...that one site posted the review one day after it hit retail and they still say it was prirated. From what I've read Alone in the Dark is only about a 12 hour long game any way.
And game reviewers are all subjective any way. I personally have never disaggreed with gamespot...well 95% of the time any way. It is just becasue I think their reviewers and I have the same taste so their reviews work for me. However, I can walk about ten meters and find some one who thinks every one at gamespot is on crack. You just have to find a review site that works for you and then they can be a source of valuable information.
