How to partite this 2 500GB HDs.

Thread Starter
Hi, all
I just build up a new computer with 2 500gb HDs. I plan to have 2x 60GB on HD #1 to have Vista Ultimate and XP installed. Now I'm not clear what to do to partite the rest of the drives.
Main target for this computer is Photo editing PS CS3 + video editing Adobe Premiere. I do not have any particular interest in RAID. I don' think the amount of increased speed deserves the hassle. And I have 2 External HDs for backups.
So what would you do in this situation. how to partite for data? scratch?

thank you in advance for your input.

Do you mean partition the drives? I am not familiar with RAID, so i wasn't sure if partite was a term i did not know.

i would just make the 2 partitions you need then use the rest of the drive as another "data" partition. then just put all your documents and stuff like that on it, so both OSs can share it.

Hmm, what I'm not sure is how many gigs I should reserve for the scratch disk providing I'm using PS and Premiere.

What stanrc said.

if you really dont think you need it, you can always just sell it off to help offset some of the cost you paid for your PC.

You mean keep the leftover from HD#1 and 500gb HD#2 as a one or partition into several parts. Performance wise which is better. Data as a whole? or partition into several smaller data partitions.

thank you.

You can use your Vista or XP install disks to create the partitions. Install XP first. Or you can use gparted to create the partitions.
