[DT] Three-Strikes Piracy Plan in France - Page 4

Seems that it could be a reasonable plan, I didn't follow a link but did it say something about what is defined as "strike worthy piracy"? A few songs here and there should not be punishable, but I can see a strike being awarded for massive uploading and downloading of files.

After the third strike, are you simply cut off from your current IP? Are parents held accountable for the piracy that their children commit? Are you blacklisted by the local ISPs for the year, as in all of them and you receive no service?

This seems plausible if you were to fix the kinks in it, but as it stands doesn't seem a good plan.

Also, photoshop is way too much, GIMP != pirating photoshop as it is a open source alternative.

Uhh, the only way they would be able to do that is by monitoring what you are doing on the internet, which is illegal in the US. No doubt it will happen anyway though.

LOL @ the people who claim gimp is a replacement for photoshop. Obviosuly, you have either never used photoshop, or don't know how to use it.

Baseball and piracy don't mix the last time I checked.

Poor Frenchies... I bet that the service providers will lose a hell lotta money from this policy.

Granted, it isn't the only reason for a price drop, but to believe it plays no part is just wrong.
No it does NOT. The only thing that drives down prices is competition. If everyone is buying a product; what incentive would a company have to lower prices? Simple economics, the worth of something is what people are WILLING to pay.

True it sucks in comparison. But it's by far the best free photo editing tool I've ever seen.

Going back on topic: This is an unfair measure that will do nothing to stop piracy, but do a lot to strip citizens from yet another right. However citizens seem to want that lately. Many citizens are all up for being controlled, for being told what to do all in the name of fairness.

Sigh. I wish stupidity would be lethal to its owner....
Basically going on the line as: "Poor Jay-Z had to get the gold plated pool instead of the diamond plated one."

How do you think Nazi Germany rose to power? Or USSR? Or the reign of Napoleon? The end of the Roman Republic and the beginning of the Roman Empire and the incompetent Emperors? Or Communist China? All demanded by the people. While there are bright people in this world, a flock of people are extremely stupid.

I drive a Toyota Camry, not a Porche, because I cannot afford the Porche. By your logic, I could steal the Porche and be totally justified because "they should have sold it for less".

boo frickedy hoo.

Now great artists like Rob Thomas, Elton John, and Britney Spears and etc. will never be able to afford an LT56 Learjet. They'll only be able to afford an LT55... it doesn't even have surround sound built in, and the DVD player doesn't have a remote.

Sad, sad state of affairs.
