[softpedia]Apple To give PC users the green light (Big time rumour) - Page 2

If this happens Windows will be in hot water. If they release it to non-apple hardware (officially, unlike my hackintosh), then companies will be able to write drivers allowing us to play the latest games on OSX.

I hope it happens!

Well, seems that its going to be a good OS...
x86 only would be a more appropriate term. It will leave PPC users out, but if it's platform neutral it will run on AMD processors. There's already people running OSX on AMD's through the OSx86 project.

I guess I can't argue with that logic. Your post reveals you know all there is to know about stupid.

Yah like I said it sounds very far-fetched but I would love for it to be true as well.

This is a pretty unbelievable rumor. It would eliminate Apple's hardware sales (big time profit) and they would have to charge quite a bit more for their OS. Their "quality" would also take a big hit because HP would be selling OSX with Celeron's and tons of crapware for $400 and it would crawl worse than Vista.

I agree with the "stupid move" attitude. Apple has a great, stable OS because they have 100% control over the hardware it gets developed on.

People bash Windows but you have to understand that it's coded to run on umpteen million different configurations of hardware. It's a stunning achievement that it runs as well as it does.

Back on topic, Apple should stick to what they do best: Create great software that runs on pretty looking hardware.

Its already PC compatible for those of us smart enough to realize that ridiculous EULA's themselves violate the law...

I could make u sign a contract saying I own you, but guess what? Slavery is illegal. Contract is garbage.

but my point is this:
They don't have to "make" it PC compatible, because it already is. Im not trying to start a EULA discussion. Makiubng it platform ignorant would be easier not harder

It's not stupid. It just probably won't ever happen. I, for one, would love to be able to run OS X on any PC.
