Higher CFM fans and shrouds didn't drop temps?

Thread Starter 
So I have an MCR320 cooling my fuzion v2 and MCR30. The pump is a MCP350 with 3/8" tubing. I just went from 45CFM fans to 71CFM Yate Loon medium speed fans. I even used the old fan housings as shrouds. My temps didn't go down at all. Any ideas? Idle is like 35C, max load with OCCT is 54c.

Your rad was already dissipating as much heat as it was going to I guess, looks like it would of brought it down a little, were the room ambients the same?...If nothing else your rad will be more efficient now, it will pull across more of the rad...It wont pack up with dust as fast...

Hey you did seal the shroud to the rad and the fans to the shroud well? If your sucking a lot of air around the sides of all that you wont help temp's any...I usually just use some clear silicone to seal it all up...

It seems that your cooling loop is not air side limited, but liquid side limited.

Things to check out:

1) Remove as much kinks or tight 90 degree turns in the loop.

2) burp out more air out of the liquid lines and radiator.

3) verify that the water-block is well seated on the chip. This tends to be the most over looked even if it "looks" to be A OK.

4) coolant mixture to be at min. 20% glycol and 80% distilled water.

5) higher flowing fans work great with two pass radiators vs. a single pass type.

6) like the other posted mentioned, close off any air leaks with the shroud, fan and radiator.

7) if the radiator has a dense air center (fins) and tube construction, then the best performance is to have the fan draw the air out of the radiator vs. pushing air into it.

8) is the pump drawing from a reservoir? Make sure the suction side has plenty to draw from.

I'll give sealing the shroud a shot. The pump draws straight from the res. I have no 90 degree bends or kinks. The system is totally bleed. I'll try remounting the block and see if that helps any. Why wouldn't an MCP350 be good enough for two blocks and a rad?

my bad i thought you had to two MCR 320's in your loop.But even then your pump should be enough from what ive just been told

That little pump, the MCP-355 is used on Dell's highest ended XPS 730 gaming computer worth several thousand dollars. It helps circulate the coolant to cool two quads and two SLI cards!

None of which are overclocked. Not saying the pumps bad but I can turn off two fans and run the other at the lowest setting possible on my Zalman controller if I run at stock speeds.
