You are awful arrogant in defending NV. Their current series dropped the ball, plain and simple. The sooner people can accept this, the sooner we can move on and NV can push to make some better, more competitive products. The GTX280 unfortunately not only does not blow the HD4870 out of the water, but is in fact 50% more expensive and only about 10% better. Two 4870s will likely give you about 25% - 35% better performance than a single GTX280, at a cost that is still about 5% - 10% lower. This is not even looking at the upcoming 4870x2. In short, NV lost this round. They need to go back to the drawing board and come up with something better that will allow them to compete in the price and performance area, as they have neither now.
If they can sell the GTX280 for $325 - $350, and the GTX260 for $200 - $225, then they will be able to compete. At the current prices, they do not stand a chance in low, mid, or high end.
