[QUESTION] USB Headsets and Sound cards

Just a question for those that know, I just got a SB X-Fi sound card, their basic model in hopes to up the performance of my CPU. I was under the impression that with the sound card it'll boast performance with high quality sounds and it did, compared to the basic on-board here. Now the sound quality is amazing and whatnot, but I was wondering if using a USB Headset, as it doesn't directly connect to the sound card, would that exclude the sound card and just have the CPU take over again? I have disabled my on-board sound btw.

So basically, is the USB headset still going to use the SB X-Fi as a source of producing sound?

Thinking it would more likely, but just asking to make sure....

No, the USB headset has it's own little sound "card" build in, so it won't use your X-Fi.

so even its effects, etc, won't be accepted with the sound card? With a USB to the prongs with work tho eh?

I personally have only used mics that have the 3/4'' jack that plug directly into the sound card. However I doubt that a usb headset will use any of the features of your XFI ther than a basic volume control.

The USB will override your X-fi, and will not provide any of the enhancements. the headset will have it's own sound processor on it, and that will take over from the X-fi.

Could I get a converter and change it from a USB to the analog?

If you want to take advantage of your X-fi with headphones, you will need analogue headphones.

Hmmmm, I was at the Source and there was a USB headset that also had analog connections? Could it just have been a analog headset and just had a analog to USB connector......

Should I just return these?
