COD 4 maxxed out! - Page 2

COD4 aint cpu demanding anyway, 3850 works perfectly and will max it out even on 1680 x 1050

2600XT at half the price should max it on 1280 1024

^ i agree. Take the el-cheapo route: a E2**0 chip, with a P35/45 mobo and 2 gigs of ram, and a 4850 ought to set you well...

i have basically the same setup in my other rig with an 8800GT, soon to be 4870, and i get maxed ingame at playable (30+ constant - never checked for an actual bench) fps at 1680x1050: not to mention it clocked like a BEAST

at 1024x768(Free 15" LCD Don't care) I can max out the game and people don't believe me(my sig rig) but the game is not demanding at all, I run older games and the make me lag sometimes than COD4 with 50+ people on the server calling Air strikes 24/7

If you decide to stick with your existing motherboard and AGP, my Sapphire HD3850 AGP 512MB has done a great job of keeping my rig alive.

CoD4 is certainly a lot smoother (than my Gainward 7800 GS+ 512MB) and I noticed some new in-game eye candy appearing without me changing any settings after I installed it. Most notably the heat haze/shimmer from the missile silos.

I always play games at my native res (1920x1200) and tweak quality settings to keep my frames up. In CoD4 I play with shadows off, vsync on, and most settings at medium. I think it still looks great with my current settings, and for the minor improvement with it all maxed, to me it wasn't worth risking occasional choppy frames and less frags

Same card I have installed right now at NewEgg for $149.99 ($129.99 w/ MIR):

i believe you, the game isnt that hard to max, an 8600gt will max it at 1280 with 4x aa, at 40+fps (considering this card is worth like 60$ these days), the game is well optimized
