system_service_exception BSOD

Thread Starter
Okay here it goes, one day my norton anti-virus was doing a full system scan and my computer was really laggy and slow. i tried to do something and it froze one me. Then it did a chkdisk on me and i guess it was finding all these errors, it was zooming by pretty fast. Now every time i log onto vista i get a BSOD that says SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTIOIN and the first part of the STOP is 0x0000003B (i can get the rest if needed). I ran it in safemode and it worked fine. then i ran a full system scan and found no viruses. But every time i start windows normally it will BSOD after clicking around on some things (i.e. control panel) it will still BSOD if i let it idle but it takes longer. also i cant connect to the internet either it wouldnt find any networks.

Im a computer newb so i wouldnt know much, but when it runs in safe mode fine its supposed to be a driver error? but i didnt change any drivers or anything within at least the past month this happend. One other thing is i was getting a black screen about 2 weeks ago that said bootmgr missing and i didnt have the vista cd on me so i tried to find a work around. all i did was unplug my extra storage hardrive and it booted, then i plugged it back in and everything has been dandy till now. What could be the cause of this?

(ps vista cd is at dad's house so if im going to need it i cant get it for another week or 2)

I too have been having this issue with Vista 64, I recently purchased a GTX 285, as well as a new 850 watt psu, AND a new set of corsair memory. So it's been hard for me to narrow down the cause. It seems so random, and days go by when it does not blue screen, then occasionally something triggers it. But now that you guys mention it, It has only happened since upgrading to the later Nvidia Drivers.

I am also running 3 matching hard drives each with 2gb page file on them. I suspected originally hard drive/ partition problems. Im currently runing chkdsk on all 3 hard drives. I ran Memtest overnight and everything is clean there, The hard drives pass smart/diagnostic tests as well. So ive been pulling my hair out over this.I guess next I will attempt to roll back my nvidia driver, and see if the problem goes away.

Windows 7 could not come any sooner. :/
