ipconfig /renew access denied in XP

post #1 of 36
Thread Starter
Whenever I do an ipconfig the IP Address comes up as 0.0.0.0, so I try to do a renew and it says "Access Denied". I have tried everything, programs that fix the Winsock, and I cannot figure out why it won't work.

Anyone have any ideas?

Can you disable the adapter, then re-enable it?

what port are you plugged into the router? If you are plugged into the wan/internet port it will not give you an ip address.

also do you have another cat5 cable that you are 100% sure that works?

I can unplug the ethernet cable from the laptop and plug it into this computer and it will work fine.

try pinging your nic card with the address 127.0.0.0 to see if your card is actually responding.

Went cmd -> ping 127.0.0.1

4 packets sent, 4 packets received.

Is that what you meant?

I was trying to figure out how to do that, but I couldn't find a good guide on it.
