You don't see this kind of **** with consoles...they don't release the Xbox or Playstations and require you to patch it 50 times before you can play Halo.

I agree 100% , but it is hard to get drivers "ready" untill you get it out in the real world and start seeing peoples benchmarks and such

I currently don't have the money to upgrade my GPU, or any part of my computer, but when I do get the money, I will most likely get a GTX 280 (if I even need that much power, being that I don't game as much as I used to).

Don't get me wrong guys, the 4870 is a great card for the money. But when someone makes a thread saying "AMD wins" when the 4870 lost over half of the benchmarks to the GTX 280, I will makes posts like what I'm doing.

This is just with beta bios, with improved drivers the 4870 will smoke the GTX 280.

Remember, the 4870, 4870 CF is not meant to compete with the GTX 280.
Save your angst for the 4870X2

To be honest , that might be jumping the gun a bit. sure they newer drivers will help performance , but that is a rather large jump to make to "smoke " the GTX280. only time will tell , nVidia may have the fastest card , but ATI has the best choice , is that an opinion? yes it is. So take it as one

Oh, I know the 4870x2 will be a great card, and will dominate everything. But in the mean time, I am not 100% impressed with the 4870. I am impressed how well it does for a ~$300 card.

Its always been that way. They need to get the cards out quickly to compete so the drivers issued with the cards may not be the finished article...far from being unfinished but just needing some tweaks

I remember when the the X1900 cards came out, they weren't that great but, ATi released improved drivers and the 1900's stomped all over the 78/900's.
