Q6600 Issues

Thread Starter
I have re-installed my Q6600 in my P5N-E SLI 650i. I was running a Celeron E1200 @ 3.08.

My problem is that the Q6600 is only functions one core and one thread. I had the same problem with my E7200 but the E1200 was fine it ran on two cores and two threads.

Any Help?

P.S.
I think I have a solution to my problem when I upgraded to E7200 I was running a Pentium 4 HT 661 @ 4.5GHz with Hyper-Threading disabled. When I took the Pentium 4 out I forgot to enable the Hyper-Threading this might have confused the motherboard.

P.S.S
I have my E1200 back in my system as it’s functions both cores.

Many Thanks

Is a Bios update needed?

No Device Manage does not see four cores only one.

what else could it be. could i have confused it but disabling HT on my old CPU and not converting it back to HT

You might have to reinstall Windows.
Does Bios recognize the Quad core?

CPU Name in BIOS is Intel 2 Quad CPU it doesn't say Q6600

Yeah i'm hoping a Battery Remove for 5 mins will help this problem if not where do i go next. I was think-ing of buying a P31 chipset board to power my Q6600

Try Uninstalling CPU in device manager, reboot, and CPU should be working properly.
