Price fluctuations of 4870

Thread Starter
As with most cards that come out, they often jump up in price soon after they come out because so many people are in a rush to buy them. With the 4870 coming out soon, I was wondering (as I might buy one), what do you guys think the price will be 2 weeks to a month after it comes out? Its MSRP is $300, but I'm guessing it will be around $315 on newegg when it first comes out. If tons of people start ordering it, the price may jump to say $330. That's $30 I could be spending on booze!

Besides Newegg, I'm sure individual sellers are going to be scalping them as well. On the other hand, ATI/AMD was really adamant about these cards being $299, so maybe retailers will honor that and keep them that cost.

Newegg doesnt really jack up the prices.

And also, whats with your crysis coder in action rubbish.

It isnt badly coded, no wonder you cant run it youve got a 7 series man.

Go get a 9 series card, it runs fine.

newegg does in fact jack up the prices. cant you not even order from them?

also it seems universally accepted that Crysis is somewhat unnecessarily rough on gpu's.

Yeah, Newegg doesn't have the cards up for sale yet (although Anandtech claims that ATI told them the cards wouldn't be released till the following weeks, so someone's dropping the ball somewhere). And yeah, Crysis is pretty obnoxious as far as GPU's go, even the 4870 only got like mid 30's with it.
