q6600 heat problems

Thread Starter
ok ive just been made aware that my rig (that ive used for over a year) is running too hot (at full load 70deg on hottest core)

i am getting a new case next month (armour+) and i have lapped my heatsink before and have 2 fans on it using pull/push airflow on it. one thing i have noticed tho on the motherboards ive had is that the northbridge fan blows straight into the cpu heatsink. could this be a problem?

are there any other things i should take into account as well? there are 7 fans in my rig at present and i thought i had pretty good airflow

Yeah, you don't want more hot air blowing towards the HSF, so that could be causing some of it. Also, it IS the summer, so that's why your temps have gone up. I would just make sure all of your fans are blowing in the directions you think they are, and make sure the airflow is where you want it to be.

Also, you may want to remount your TRUE. It could just be a bad mount, because 70 degrees, regardless of season is pretty hot with a a TRUE. Good luck

you can clean it off with rubbing alcohol if you can't get it all off with a cloth.

Yeah, there's no special way to clean it off. Just be careful.
