Associates were assured that the production of dual core processors atom will start in the first half of July. The model Atom 330 had to operate at 1.6 GHz, and the second core will increase the TDP value from 12 to 16 W . Due to the relatively high energy consumption level and heat emission the dual core processors atom will be used only in the desktop systems. Associate reported yesterday that the release of 230 (1.6 GHz) processor was reported to at least September due to the scarcity of single core processors . The announcement periods of this model will be refined in August .

As we already reported, three bloomfield models with frequencies from 2.66 GHz to 3.2 GHz will engage the upper half of price segment. In particular, the 65 nm processors core 2 Extreme QX6800 (2.93 GHz) and Core 2 Extreme QX6850 (3.0 GHz) will be removed from production in July this year, and the 45 nm processors core 2 Quad q9650 (3.0 GHz) and Core 2 Quad q9550 (2.83 GHz) will be removed from production in the first quarter 2009.

Associate also reported an Interesting information relative to the platform Intel x58 + iCH10. This chipset will increase the performance by 15-30% in comparison with the existing of solutions. This Platform will also support four slots for video cards ( PCI express x8 version 2.0 ). let us recall that the announcement of bloomfield processors LGA 1366 is planned for the end of the fourth quarter 2008.

Nice, it seems like everything is progressing nicely. I'm waiting to see how Bloomsfield compares to Penryn to see if it will justify the price.

Won't this bottleneck most new high-end GPUs?

It might.

Only two x16 slots is a bit disappointing seeing as even the AMD 790FX supports four x16 slots electrically and physically.

'Skulltrail 2' could have two X58s coupled together via QPI. Well, so could a uniprocessor board too for more graphics expandability, and I guess many mobo manufacturers will look at that.

(Note that the graphs are a bit old but still valid, the only mistake here is ICH9 which we now know will be the ICH10)

God I wish I could get one of these, but I'm in a hurry, and I plan on going AMD this time around.

no because the 2.0 spec is basically double the 1.x spec.
x8 2.0 = x16 1.x

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

But the new Gpus, at least Nvidia's are 2.0 x16 maybe ATi will benefit since they only have a 256 bit bus vs Nvidia's 512?

Johnny Utah is right and these new cards weather they are 256 or 512 will not use the
8x 2.o completely its just nonsense. The reason they swithched at all was to provide more "lanes" on the pci-e bus which is the new bus of choice for internal componants.
8x X 8x 2.0 is the same as 16x X 16x 1.0. Also a card being pci-e 2. compliant does not mean it needs that much bandwith, it just means it can interface with that bus.
