Q6600 safe temps

Thread Starter
well i just started folding on 2 core of this cpu and and temps are at 60 C.

so i was wondering what are safe temps for this CPU to be at 24/7.

i know intel says on the spec find to be 71 C, but what is it in reality for it to be at 24/7 to not damage the cpu?

Most wouldn't cross 60c, and I think anything above 55c is pushing it, OK for a suicide run or benching, but not OK for 24/7. I'd aim for keeping it below 55c.

But that's just me. I think the accepted value is below 60c.

If those are your load temps then you are fine. I have 1 of the hottest Q6600's I've ever seen and it idles around 47c and loads to 61c. It's been running 24/7 for nearly a year now. Some will say yours in a tad hot - but It's well within acceptable limits.

Yeah. Like everyone said, for 24/7 I wouldn't go over 60°C by much. That thermal spec is the number before it starts destroying the chip

depends on the steppnig. the G0 has the max Tcasemax rated at 71*C. though to be honest that is a different temp rating then what you will see in many temp reporting programs as they report the Tjunction not the tcase. those are two very different temps monitored at two very different locations.

yours is a B3 and so it's max rated temp is 62.2*C but then again read above about the tjunction and tcase.

he has a G0 specs are different then the B3's erad above.
