E2160 + $120 for Q6600?

Someone is offering to trade my E2160, stepping D + $120 for his lapped Q6600, stepping G0?
Should I go ahead with this?

I have a 780i mobo, which i hear is not so good for OCing with quads, but nonetheless, I should expect some noticeable improvement, right?

My E2160 is currently running @ 3.2ghz stable.

Assume that both chips are in proper working order and that money is not so much of an issue.

Yes def a good upgrade if the deal is good. The e2160 is not a good match for the 780i, sounds funny when there in the same sentence XD. Low end budget processor with top of the line motherboard. Go for the q6600. It should be able to overclock to 3.00ghz, but not any higher

I was playing with the E2160 to see how high it could go, was planning to upgrade to an E8x when I felt like it, but hey this does seem like a good offer. Thanks for your input guys.

basically sanding off the top of the CPU to the copper(?) part to reduce temperatures.

You've got it.
And we lap to create a more perfectly flat surface on the chip.

Its either a B3 stepping or GO dont make a B0 unless its a crossbreed

The b3 will do fine lapped Ive had mine to 4.4, stable. And on air at 3.6. This is on a p965,p35 and x38 motherboards though. Might be a little different on nvidia. ALLEN
