The unit probably only has 30w cooling power since it is most likely TEC based. Removing 30w from a case would improve your temperatures by.... nothing. It would be like using a 3000BTU A/C to cool a warehouse. No noticable effect.

I say make your own from a real, 100$ AC. Check on Craigslist they usually have a few up locally. My guess at that internal AC thing is, it would work to shave off about 2C, which is not worth it because you could have installed a 120mm fan instead of it and get a 4C drop.
