It's just you can't go ahead and assume, "Oh it took them 10 years to release a Starcraft sequel, therefore it'll take 10 years for a Diablo one". Well the sequel to Warcraft came out after 1 year of Warcraft's release, and the sequel to that came 7 years after.
They are building up people for a new project. With SC2 coming out in probably a year, they are not gona say, Hey look SC3! And they wont declare a SC MMO. Because why would they compete against themselves. Which also leads into another point of the fact that Diablo 3 which i believe they will come out with, will be a free to play as well. Quite possible to suscribe to it, to get extra features like new skills 2x bank size , stuff like that, but not necessary to play. With that, they can keep their WoW audiance and obtain another. If they do that, it works better on their part because unless they leave WoW, they get the same money, and if they play D3 isntead of WoW, thats less load on the server which will save them some money.
BUT!... There is a posibility of declaring a new game as well. Perhaps they will start working on :
SC Ghost again the RPG FPS.
Or even throw a curveball and announce more on the Warcraft Movie as well.
