Who cares if they have the fastest card. There is more to a GPU then just being faster. Its like saying i will never go mid range because high end is better. There are many reasons that make a Company better and prices is one of the most important things if not the most.

Exactly. Price (and the subsequent price-to-performance) generally equates to more sales than pure performance alone, at least where graphics cards are concerned. Why do you think Intel leads both ATI and nVidia in graphics chipset sales? Their IGP's (Integrated Graphics Processors) are cheap and effective.

Could ATI Produce a single card faster than a GTX280? Say they could. What would be the point if it's not going to get them anywhere besides saying "we have the fastest single graphics card". Performance without a price point that drives sales is basically just worth that statement and not much more.

Ehhh it's an awfully close race on most fronts, price, performance, and both. I would take another 8800GT for $100 though

You're right. nVidia is still the top dog if you've got between $400 - $700 to throw away on 1 video card.

ATI = developing new tech, Nvidia = revising old tech.
