Im suprised the 3D Galaxy cooled that setting so well...

As for 1.8v, thats real high for an Orthos test.. I would go as high as 1.6 for a benchmark run, but would deff go back below 1.5 after..

Its not the temp that kills at high voltage, its the voltage. Its called electro migration.

I understand the whole experimentation of cranking volts to see how far it will go, but these tests are really pointless outside of the tester, being each chip is diff..

Id suggest you head over to xtremesystems.org, they are way more loose with overvolting and may be able to assist you better.

Most of us around here go for stable safe overclocks....

But 3.9 sounds good on a Q6600... I just cant afford to put 1.8v into mine, even if i plan on upgradeing, its easily a 150$ chip used, so Id rather sell it than fry it...

As for the rest of your overclock questions, It would just be testing at certain voltages, say 1.4875 and then keep raising the FSB and testing until its not stable, then back it down to last stable...

leave MEM on auto til cpu is stable, and OC it after the fact

voltages to set

FSB
NB
CPU
MEM

find a similar system and follow their settings

Also be sure
C1E
EIST
SpeedStep
are all disabled in bios, along with any other settings you find simalr to someone with your same board model

If your going for 4ghz, your going to have to hit 1.98Vcore, and get some Liquid Nitrogen. Assuming this is for benching.

You need to lower that vcore alot. Your Q6600 might not beable to hit 4GHZ all chips are diff. 1 q6600 might hit 4GHZ and 1 might only hit 3.8 or 3.9 GHZ!
