do you mean emulators for use on the 360 or emulators to emulate the 360 on a pc? the latter would be incredibly hard to code because of how much it would need to be optimized to run well on a pc.

Actually, I don't think that's it. I think they realized that they could potentially make much more money buy licensing the rights to produce the hardware, while also being the lead in a 'universal' gaming system.

I think if someone figured out how to rip the 360 OS and make it into an exe program, he would be the most popular person in the world for a day. You could play PC + 360 games on your computer.
That will be the day when i spend $60 for acecombat 6 and burnout paradise

yea, but whats the point of having faster hardware? the software developers are going to have to develop for the most basic 360 hardware - it wont take advantage of newer hardware. if they do develop for higher end 360 configurations, then why not just call it a seperate console?

I agree

If you want to stick a video card or a new processor into an XBOX, you might as well just play games on your computer. Granted, you won't be able to play most of the same games (unless, of course, they're ported). The games made for the XBOX are only MEANT to run on XBOX hardware; at least that's what I understand?

I think this would only work if the hardware stays exactly the same, as far as Core and GPU go. HDD, bluway, network, etc can be the fun stuff other companies can tack on. The great thing about consoles is the fact that all the games that come out work on them cause they are only made with the ONE console spec in mind.

*edit* I wish they would do this with the PS3 so it was cheaper... Might pick one up then.
