Age of Conan or EVE?

Thread Starter
I have been thinking for a while and am unsure which to get. I enjoy PVP and large player-battles and also guild/corp politics. I have tried many eve online trials but never seem to "get" the game. Sicne AoC doesn't have a trial, I don't want to buy something I will later on regret.
I have friends that play both, I myself just play Eve, they like AoC, but it can be demanding, and Eve they know they love, and have been saying they like it more, granted two totally different games.

Why don't you try WoW? Seems like exactly what you are looking for. And they have trials for it too.

EVE is great and the only MMO that holds up to the "Player-driven universe" motto

AoC I've not played

WoW is great if you're just looking for an amusement park

EVE is extremely slow and it'll take you about a year to even get noticed by anything.

AoC just released so you'll have the possibility to become the best.

Play what you want, i'm playin AoC just got my 2nd 80. I love it

They are pretty different games. Yes they are both MMORPGs, but the playstyle of them is world's apart. I'd personally go with AoC, because that is what I'm playing now, and I've tried EVE and it got boring for me, but hey that's just me.

Pick up the trial of EVE and try it out would be my best suggestion, if you don't like that, then AoC might be more up your alley.

About EVE
I've tried to "get into" EVE several times also, but I can never stayed hooked. The latest graphics enhancement was really sweet and made me enjoy the game a bit more since the eye candy was greatly increased. However after a couple of months of mining and running missions, I got into the habit of watching my EVEMon timer and only logging in to train new skills, then logging back out. I think the reason I can't get into it is because I don't have my own little virtual character that I can customize and run around with, so that's what killed the game for me. That's just my point of view though, I know that doesn't matter to a lot of people.

About AOC
As for AoC, I have a level 44 Barbarian on a PvE server. I'm not currently playing it though, but I did have a lot of fun for the first free month. The graphics are amazing, and it really helped me feel immersed in the world. Aside from a few early issues that I resolved on my own, the gameplay was really good for the first half of the game. There are a few areas that seem very unfinished, but honestly, I didn't go to those areas until I read about them on the forums. I played solo the first month and the questing didn't seem boring at all. I've heard a bunch of people say they ran out of quests around level 45 or so, but my quest log was full when I quit so I guess my experience was different.

Anyway, I took a chance and bought the game a day before launch without even reading about peoples' beta experiences. If I would have read all of the doom and gloom on the official forums, I might not have gotten the game because people exaggerate so badly it really skews your opinion of the game if you've never played it. But I took a chance on it, and I think it was a good call. The only reason I quit was because I don't have any extra cash right now to play, but once I get more scratch I think I'm going to resubscribe.

In short, if you don't mind a few early glitches or some unfinished areas, then get AoC. From level 1-20 the game is highly polished and even has voice acting, from 20-40 there's no voice acting but the world is truly amazing and HUGE, so I doubt you'd get bored. From 40-80, someone else would have to chime in because I'm only 44, and was still questing before I quit. There's also guild-run cities which I have yet to see in-person, but from the screenshots they seem really cool, kind of like SWG but AoC holds your hand more I think, but that's just what I've gathered from reading about it.

Oh my god, next thing you know your going to be asking him to try heroin.

I could never really get into Eve. It just feels TOO lonely. While I'm being antisocial, I'd much rather do it socially.

And AoC is just fun. Don't let everyone's *****ing about bug this bug that deter you. Find out for yourself. Besides, what is the good of money if your not spending it?

Hmm, I'd have to say Eve now. AoC is just a bit too simple for me, I like it when you actually have to do some research to be better in games (like Anachy Online & Eve) and have a skillsystem that is more then just a few perks and basic skills. But I must agree that it takes you about 6 months playing Eve before you are big enough for the fun stuff
