~$700 Silent Gaming build

Thread Starter
Well, after 6 years, my dad finally let me build a new computer... hopefully he won't back out of it again. Budget is estimated to about $700, but is flexible (just don't jack up the price to $1000, you know how these threads tend to do that ). The computer needs to be relatively silent, and but without sacrificing major performance.

Costs are plus shipping, rounded to nearest multiple of 5.

Proposed build:
Combo - $280
CPU - E8400 ($190)
Case - Antec ($140)

CPU Cooling - Xigmatek XP-S964 ($35/$25AR)
GPU - HD 4850 ($195/$175AR/$155 Final)
Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R ($130/$110AR)
RAM - OCZ Platinum Revision 2 2GB ($50/$25AR)
Hard drive - 320GB Seagate 7200.11 ($70)
DVD Burner - LITE-ON ($24)

PSU - ThermalTake 520W (Free)
Sound - SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS (Free)

Total: $784/$689AR

UPDATE: My dad backed out of it, so no use posting anymore. I request that it does not get deleted, so I can reference off of this later.

imo that case is not worth the 100+shipping, its too small and seems poorly ventilated. if you want a larger case that also may help you with ur silence pc, Nzxt - HUSH is a pretty good case and cheaper.

I don't keep up to date with new hardware since I'm pretty much broke and I can't buy anything, so I just threw together so compatible parts that seemed ok.

Do you plan on SLI? If not, there are much cheaper motherboards out there, like mine for example.

The NZXT Hush is absolutely TERRIBLE. It has the WORST airflow you can get, won't fit long video cards comfortably (they take up hard drive room and block the front fan), and uses the cheapest plastic that feels like sneezing on it would break it off.

I know this is not really a "luxury" case, but I have a absolutely silent dual CPU PC built with these parts (can't hear it from 1ft away):

Rosewill Case - only $5 shipping
120MM Fan Filter hidden between the front fan and the front panel
8x Rubber grommets to stop fan noise
Rubber Case Feet
Sonex Panels <- I don't have these and don't need them, but you can get some if you want

Price with 4 sonex panels: $80+shipping
Price without sonex panels: $40+shipping

The case is made of very solid steel (a 250lb man can stand on it with no problem), so you may not even need a hard drive vibration isolator (I didn't). But if you do, just use some bungee cords to hang it up in the drive bays. Also, you can easily afford to drop all the fans to 5v and not risk high temps in that case. Plus, it gives you a good bit of airflow behind the motherboard, further helping it allow slow fans safely.

Rosewill cases are just as good as the more expensive stuff like the CM690 and A900 and stuff. Their aluminium ones feel pretty cheap and resonate the fan sound like they were echo chambers, but the SECC ones are solid and great quality cases.

Edit: I also forgot to mention, you may want to consider getting a graphics card cooler as well. Those little centrifugal fans on the stock coolers are absolutely horrendous with noise.

FYI, Silent and Gaming can't go in the same sentence.

Yes they can. The usage is:

You cannot be silent while gaming.
