Need help CF 4850 or CF 3870X2 ??!!!

Hey guys, recently i got this headache of what to get for me new system, and the problem like you all know always is the GPU.

I know people here and there recently have a fancy for the new 4850 ( it sound like sweet... very sweet indeed ) However, the 3870x2 is not that bad after all right?

So i was thinking of getting 2 3870x2 since the price will drop...
Any advised? is the 3870x2 good in gaming?

Ive been using Nvidia so i have no idea how goos is the Ati stuff ( bad experience with the 2900XT..., now i have a key holder make out of 2900XT core )

Thanks alot!!

you're better off with CF 4850s or 4870s but in that case you will have to get a new motherboard, so if you want to keep that board you're using shoot for the 3870X2 or wait a bit and get the 4870X2

Go with a single 4850, then when the 4870X2 comes out, sell the 4850 and buy two 4870X2's. Keep in mind, 4850's get really hot.

The HotFix addressed this problem. The reason the 4850 was so hot was because the fan speed was locked at 15% even during load. It's also a single slot cooler. Drop an HR-05 GT on it though, and your temps will drop 20C.

Okay, that's good to know... nevermind it being hot!

However, I have to admit that dual HD3870x2s would have better performance than dual HD4850s. The down side is that they require a little more power and won't ALWAYS be better. But that's the risk you take with CFX.

Thanks guys, But can a single 4850 beat my 8800GTS G92 in gaming?

@(Anqt31) I Dont mind the heat cos i am waiting for Asus card, expensive but it is a good brand with good bundle and warant policies... By July i think they should fix that fan control ...

So atm i only concern about gaming experience...

The fan control has already been fixed. Asus only has a 3 year warranty like most other ATI AIBs. The only AIB that has a lifetime warranty is VisionTek, they are my AIB of choice

4850 is about 5-10% faster than the G92-350(88GTS512) If SC2 gets DX10.1, the gap will be bigger. And don't forget that SC2 gets Havok and not PhysX
