Best Crossfire/SLI Board for OC'ing? - Page 3

I have a good EVGA 780i for sale, that i have had no issue getting my q6600 to 3.6 on. If you go for x-fire, i would just get a x38 board, and a pair of 4870's.

Thanks but no thanks. I prefer using ATI at the moment.

Still. I could care less about right now. I really want this thing to be future-proofed which is why I went Quad in the first place.

Like I said before, I want it to be able to use future apps and last me a long time. But seriously, I could care less about spending mondo $$$ to make my games just a little prettier.

I spent some time looking into these boards, and I think I've decided to go with the DFI DK Lanparty x48, now that I know what to look for. Seems like this board will last me a long time.

It's not listed on the specs, but this board does support crossfire, right?

Yes, and if I were you, I would get that x48, a 4850, and then later get a 4870 X2. If you want to overclock the cards, dont buy a 4850 yet. Wait for the factory OC versions as they will have dual slot coolers.
Its like making a sandwitch, u got your bread, the meat, the cheese, and the extras that you may not need like the peppers, dressing, and onions :X
Possibilities are endless (not rly) You can get a 4850, CF with another later. Get a 4850 CF with a 4870. Get a 4870, CF with a 4870.

Thank you. Sounds like a plan. I think I'll stick with a 4850 or 3870, then CF it with the x2 version later on in the future when it all becomes cheaper.

I highly appreciate the help guys.
