Gigabyte DS3-R - $140 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128082
Intel Q6600 - $200 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115017
Wintec AMPX 2gb kit - $40 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820161229
Gigabyte HD3450 - $43 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125094
750gb HD - $130 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148298
36gb Raptor - $90 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136054
EarthWatts 430w - $30AR http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371006

1. Why a 36GB Raptor harddrive, is that for the OS only? Or a fastboot type of a thing?
2. Overclock the Q6600 or not? (3.0GHz)
3. Networking solution that is cheap and will have decent ping in west/cent
4. I plan on hosting 2 servers per core on this server, and since it should only cost ~600$, I plan on getting an identical box if this works out. Will one core of a Q6600 be able to support a 32 slot gameserver for CoD4/CS? Or is that too intensive for one core? I am planning on hosting gameservers now that I have learned 100$ servers can host FTP easily.
5. Thanks a lot!!

I run a CS Source server on a P4 2.0ghz at home and i achieve about 500fps on the server. The bottleneck is ALWAYS bandwidth with home servers.

Comcast has services available for home use now that blow dsl out of the water. Look at their extreme tier service which is capable of 50/5 speeds, though it may be a bit over your budget of $100/mo. Also you can look into FTTH or FTTP if it is available in your area. AT&T & Verizon are you best bets to check for that. I personally am running 35/8 on Charter and have no issues hosting up to a 18 person CS:S server at 100 tick on a E6600.

It would probably be able to run a 32 man server, but do you not get the fact of what kind of connection you will need to be able to support something like this? You could also build cheap and colocate at internap or any of the well known bandwidth providers. On a 1mbit connection, no way you're hosting much more than 14 source people comfortably. In CA you should be able to get FIOS nearly anywhere. Look into it.

Last I checked, Comcast does not allow servers on home services. You need to upgrade to a business account.
