Use Everest to check your Vcore.

"AUTO" will increase Vcore as needed.

Also, nothing short of a 24 hour prime run with a screenshot of it will satisfy everyone.

24 hour is excessive. 8-12 hours is the standard.

I've hit instability at 9 hours.

I won't use my computer till it passes at least 24 hours, some times I will leave it for 36 or so if I just need to surf the net.

24 hours is the standard though.

lol i'm not going to leave my computer for 24 hours just crankin away, if it ever hard freezes then i will. Over night was fine it was like 10 hours. By the way, 1.36vcore

Knew it was too good to be true. I am still happy at being at 4.03ghz. And air cooled lol.

validation link. So it's safe to say that i got a good one lol.

on a side note my temps are resting now around 67 degrees. when i run prime95 small fft's for a long time. When the as5 cures a little more it should come down.

impossible.... if its true then its a first for OCN ...who else here can say they pushed 4ghz on air with stock volts...??

cpuz is not reading it right..... the voltage must be set to auto & cpuz just continues to read the default vcore...

voltage = heat 67c tells me the board is feeding far more power to the chip than that..

Air cooled running fine, prime95 stable. not over 62 degrees right now, i have a coolermaster 212 and have that and the processor lapped and artic silver 5. Is it normal to hit 4ghz on these chips without upping the vcore? What can i get out of it if i build another water setup lol? I JUST got this chip from newegg incase anyone is wondering. Getting cpu-z now to submit proof.
As i've seen in the benchies and other forums, this one's has a beast hidden in it, and it does as fast as a stock e8400 when overclocked...so i guess your overclocks are identical to what i saw earlier.

very nice OC! I am seriously considering going by microcenter on the way home and getting a 7200 to replace my 6420. Isn't the 7200 basically half the die of one of the new quads (Q9450) ?

1.36 Vcore is a joke for 4Ghz, that voltage is the voltage specification limit for 45nm chips. IF Vcore goes higher than that actual 1.365 then risk of CPU Burnout comes into play.

IMO, 1.36vcore for 4ghz is not very impressive. 1.36v for 45nm chips is like 1.55 volts on a 65nm CPU

For the record, my chip does 4.16 ghz on 1.27 volts using air cooling, watercooling got me to 4.33 ghz . These are stable settings... I still have yet to reach a limit though since 4.33ghz is only needing 1.32 volts, I might be able to get 4.4ghz on 1.35v

maybe i'll take it off of auto then and see if i can push it farther with less vcore. Especially with the recent temp drop.

i'll probably wait til i get my better ram in though. I am running some old 533 **** now lol. I got 2gb of 1200+ coming in. I am anxious to see if it lives up to it's claims. Anything over 1100 and i guess i will be happy though.

Can you unlink the RAM and just go for straight CPU clocks?

I hate hearing "oh, my RAM holds me back..."

add your system please
