Uh no. Even before SP 1 Vista 64 was an excellent OS. Vista is far superior to XP in every aspect, especially with SP 1. It looks better, runs better, I've found it MORE stable than XP ever was. Not only that I have yet to find any software that won't run on it.

Infact now that I think about it I dislike XP very much.

ME is nothing like Vista ever was. ME was abandoned almost instintainiasly by MS as right off the start it was a known failure. It was a minor step to XP in the fact it was like a windows 98 version of XP and it didn't work. Not only that MS knew it was putting out XP with in a very short time of ME's release. I'm guessing just as a "test".

I think the ME to Vista comment is the most childish and ignorant thing I've yet to see. No offense to you as I've seen it before, and everytime I do it burns me due to it's ignornace.

I don't know why but I feel the same way too Fossil.

Is it because it's number 7? Because our ancient relatives thought it was a bad number and now we think it's a lucky number...

Because previous release blows, so the next should be really good?

Because it seems that we are so far at the technological age now, since modern computing appeared, that having an operating system released in that time would be majestic?

Well all I can say is this: you don't know what your missing. I bet you if you played with Vista 64 with a nice machine you'd be hooked.

It generally uses more memory that XP, and I'm not talking about prefetch. But that's not the point in my case. I'm just a person that likes plain and simple things, not some fancy looking interface. That's why my XP is more 98 like in the interface (classical theme).

PS. Everyone says that "Vista is more stable", So the other thing is that I haven't had any stability issues (except when overclocking) with XP, so what's the point of upgrade then?

I find this funny because it was intel who gave me my Vista OEM Key. I havent used it yet cause of the whole one mother baord per key thing. Once I pick out a good board then I'll switch over to vista. Till then XP for the win. Either that or I'll give the vista key to my mother when she builds her rig and I'll go str8 to 7.

On a side note. My 32 bit key works on 64 home.

If Windows 7 is a 2010 release then this is fair enough. HOWEVER. I do think Windows 7 is going to be a late release at best.

You're probably right, but I am really excited about it. I hope it's awesome.

I wouldn't get your hopes up too high. Microsoft has already stated that this will be an evolutionary release rather than any kind of major overhaul. They're being intentionally tight lipped about new features since they don't want to repeat the fiasco of hyping features on which they can't deliver, but indications are that the awesome factor will be pretty minimal.

Release Dates

Jan-07Windows Vista
Oct-01Windows XP
Sep-00Windows Me
Feb-00Windows 2000
Jun-98Windows 98
Aug-95Windows 95
May-90Windows 3.0

Vista came out a year and a half ago. It took them that long to decide if they were gona use it. Look at the gap between them all. LOL 98 to 2000 was 1.5 years. That after that you got ME after only 7 months. Then XP a year after that.

So, who's to say that after V7 that windows doesnt throw out another windows 2000 or ME, a crappy OS(I hear this, was before my time) which they will franticly try to fix with V7 SP1 and then realized they need to cut their losses and then go to V8.

How much does it cost to Upgrade from XP to Vista VS Why you would upgrade. You buy Vista because better security and this and that... Some functionality might be better in some areas,.... But then you have to take in consideration the Cost to buy the Licenses, the time to update everything, and to keep in consideration you are gona have a bunch of inital issues from the peoples stuff not working after the conversion. Some software might not work or work as well? But if its worth it, if the security and features that it gives helps then they would go for it.

I think if Vista came out in a couple more years, that it would have been a lot better. Gona make a post on my Why later.
