hibernate in xp

Thread Starter
hey guysss. recently, i reformatted a friends computer and after i installed the drivers, the laptop lost the hibernation functionality. usually, under control panel -> power options there is a hibernation tab that you enable hibernation at, but after reformatting, there is no tab to do this. any suggestions?

*ive heard something about needing a ACIP enabled bios, but couldnt locate the ACIP option. Im sure that this computer CAN hibernate, since it has done it before..

Try going to "Start->Shut Down" then when the three options (sleep, shut down, cancel) show up, hit shift to see if hibernate shows up.

Also, under control panel->power options->power schemes, which scheme do you have selected?

On the desktop right click the wallpaper (lol) and go to [properties]. In that menu find and click [screen saver] there you will see [power] click that. Under Power schemes choose [portable/laptop] then go to [hibernate] and see if you can enable it

Did you reformat with the restore disk or a fresh install disk? If its a clean install of XP you may need to download the chipset drivers for the laptop. Usually, the stock drivers in XP will not let me do advanced things such as sleep and hibernate.

My hibernate works except it wakes up like a minute later by it's self... Don't really care never use it.
