Pls help choose between 3 cards

Thread Starter
hi guys, i'm choosing between one of these cards:

8800GTS 512MB
9800GTX 512MB

i'll be running a 24" monitor at 1920x1200 resolution and would not be using SLI. so which will be better?

the third option would be a

8800GT 1GB

which actually cost LESS than the 2 above.

whats the '+' and '-' of these cards?

thanks

For an extra $50, I'd go with the 9800GTX, especially if you don't plan on going SLI. Its the most powerful of the cards above, I wouldn't go with the 8800GTS since its around the same price as the 9800. Really no need for pros and cons.

(P.S. Nice picture of Lelouch. )

thanks for your input, but from where i'll be buying it (i live in sydney), the 8800GTS and the 9800GTX cost the same while the 8800GT 1GB is $70 less.

so 9800GTX would still be the best choice atm?

I recommend waiting for the 4870, but if you're tight, get a 4850....else out of the two, get the gtx. Actually the gtx and the g92 gts are almost of the same price, and also, 1GB for an 8800gt is useless since it made only a difference of a couple of fps. so i recommend the gtx again.

well those suggestions were probably based on US prices, your situation is a little difference but here in the US the 9800GTX is at a price of $199 or possibly less to compete with the new ATI cards.
