Replace new 8800GTS with 9800GTX?

Thread Starter
I have an opportunity to replace my brand new 8800GTS with a 9800GTX. I found out the GTX was a bit cheaper than the 8800GTS before and after rebates, so I am really considering doing the RMA.

Should I? Which card is better?

Id go for the 9800GTX, I love mine and they do tend to perform slightly better in most apps (Though that can be attributed to driver optimizations).

The difference between the 8800GTS and the 9800GTX is very minimal, but you should notice a little bit of a performance increase.

I would say go with the 9800GTX since they are super cheap right now.

there is a barley any difference between the cards but if you can do it for free then ok

I would only do it if it is free. The only difference is slightly higher clock speeds and the ability to Tri-SLI.

I compared them in NewEgg and they do look similar. The only reason I am doing this is because the 9800 is slightly better and I won't have to spend any extra cash (might be getting some back) to get it.

Thanks everyone! +1
