35000 pounds > 70000 dollars, so you can't simply go by the number.

Nope, minimum wage in the Us is like $7

For us it is like £5.50 and our cost of living is higher. So they see more out of every $ than we do to every £ plus they get more

The average wage is also higher in America.

But guys, you can't just go off conversion rates as to whether it is a good deal or not. Things don't work like that.

If you're in the UK, why not just order the card overseas (from a U.S. retailer) and pay the 'normal' price for it

Because you have to pay US tax + shipping cost on something that expensive, and it ends up being the same. The only way to avoid that is to go to America yourself, buy a 9800GX2 or GTX 280 or whatever and hope no one searches you when you go through customs. Even if they do i doubt they would take it off you. Unless you have like a whole suitcase full of like 20 of them!

They have dropped to $500 in Australia as well ^^
post #37 of 43
Importing a DS (that cost $200) came with an extra $100 in shipping and charges.
Even if the UK minimum wage is higher than the US, the cost of living is also higher. I suspect I could live an easier financial life in the US, but I object politically.

Add to that the difficulty if the item needs to be RMA'ed.
